Abbie came down from Adaza and came out with her.

Henry brot out the mail last night.

Another most remarkable day. October weather for a month or nearly.

I have spent most of the day hauling wood.

Henry has been attending a Com. (Committee) of building.

The weather is so fine that we can work all the time without overshoes.

The midway of another month and the winter keeps as fair as ever all that one might desire.

Harve and I went down to Scranton to secure rates on a bill of lumber for a house and brot out the mail box.

The cold wave of yesterday blew over and today has been as fine as October.

After hauling up water this morning, spent the remainder of the day chopping wood on the forty.

Jan. 10

Have witnessed a decided change in the atmosphere. A cold wind has blown all day from the N.W.

I brot out the last of the corn crib today. Found it quite different getting it down in the high wind.

Abbie brot one of her little boys home with her tonight; a very smart lad it would seem.

This has been a very fine day but the sky is hazy tonight and bespeaks a storm.

I went for another load of lumber today.

Turkeys are quoted at 8¢ in town today.

We learned that Alf Churdan came up from Des Moines today with Smallpox; a considerable portion of the town is quarantined.

I attended a meeting of our building committee tonight.

I think that our line will be assured.

A bill was made out and one copy sent to Lohrville and another to Churdan.

*Sarah note: Today’s pronunciation of Churdan is with the emphasis on the dan. In prior years when the name was a person’s proper name the emphasis was on the Chur, making it sound like sure-dun* (End of note)

Failed to note last night that we held a meeting looking to the building of the telephone line.

Our meeting progressed well and an organization formed.

So expect that the line will be realized.

Today as yesterday I have been helping Harve haul lumber from the old crib.

Finished his portion today.

Tonight I copied the articles adopted at last night’s meeting.

This has been a very mild day and tonight the sky is overcast and the atmosphere feels like a storm.

A fine Sunday.

For Supt: L. Cochran

For Asst. Supt.: Chas Bedell

For Sec.: Clare Sayre

For Treas.: W.L. Zimmerman

For Organist: Bessie Sayre

Visited at Ritchies this evening.

Rode the wheels home after dark.
